چکیده

It is well established that Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) contains large amounts of fines including mineral admixtures, such as fly ash and slag, in order to avoid segregation increase cohesion. The use these materials concrete reduces CO2 emissions contributes towards sustainable construction. To overcome the negative effect slag on strength development was ground three finenesses. Therefore, this paper examines rheological, compressive strength, total autogenous shrinkage capillary water absorption Mortars (SCM) containing granulated blast furnace Slag (S). A seven mortar mixes were prepared. control mix had a proportion 1 (cement): 1.8 (sand): 0.38 (water). In other mixes, cement partially replaced with 15% 30% different fineness 350, 420, 500 m2/kg. constituents remained unchanged. Testing included slump flow, V-funnel flow time, yield stress viscosity, shrinkage, absorption. presence found reduce plastic viscosity SCM mixtures content increase. higher (specific surface) less rheological parameters (i.e. viscosity). results show also reduction at early ages curing slag. However, long-term, than mortar. Generally, there an Doi: 10.28991/cej-2021-03091694 Full Text: PDF

Properties of Foamed Mortar Prepared with Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag

Foamed mortar with a density of 1300 kg/m³ was prepared. In the initial laboratory trials, water-to-cement (w/c) ratios ranging from 0.54 to 0.64 were tested to determine the optimal value for foamed mortar corresponding to the highest compressive strength without compromising its fresh state properties. With the obtained optimal w/c ratio of 0.56, two types of foamed mortar were prepared, name...

Effect of Slag, Natural Pozzolana and Metakaolin on Mortar Properties

The objective of this study is to examine the effect of substitution of cement by three different mineral additions, on the mortar rheological and mechanical properties. This experimentation, considers the fineness of mineral additives with a constant workability. Ordinary Portland Cement was partially replaced by different percentages of slag, pozzolana and metakaolin of 10, 20 and 30%. The ob...

Rheological and Mechanical Properties of Light Weight Self-Compacting Concrete Containing Sirjan Iron Mine Waste

Recycling is a logical option for materials that are not suitable for composting. One of these materials is iron mines waste that, according to their compounds, can be used as a substitute part of cement in concrete. For this aim, rheological and mechanical properties and durability of light weight self-compacting concrete (LWSCC) containing Sirjan iron mine waste (SIMW) as partial substitute o...

Properties of Self-compacting Concrete – an Overview

Self-compacting concrete can be defined as the concrete which requires no vibrations and can flow around obstructions, encloses the reinforcement and fills up the formwork completely under its self weight. Over the last ten years, significant amount of work has been carried out on self-compacting concrete all over the world. In countries like Japan, Sweden, Thailand, UK etc., the knowledge of S...

Improvement of Early Strength of Cement Mortar Containing Granulated Blast Furnace Slag Using Industrial Byproducts

In the field of construction, securing the early strength of concrete (on the first and third days of aging) has been an important problem in deciding the mold release time (i.e., shortening the construction time period). Therefore, the problem of reduced compressive strength in the early aging stage caused by mixing granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) with concrete must certainly be resolved....
